What is your logic behind the text I have emphasised?

I imagine its to 'test' the account. If interest @ 5% is obtained, then it can be left there, if no interest is obtained (or at 1%) then they have only wasted a few days possible interest rather than a full month.

    Exactly that.

Also, being as the intro period is only a year, zerog will lose a 1/12th of the benefit by waiting until 1st October to see if they're getting 5% AER on money deposited in September, ie from next Saturday onwards.

Having said all that, I've yet to see a post on here from anyone saying they've not got 5% AER on second and subsequent FlexDirect accounts.

If your CRA files are clean (no defaults, no CCJs, correct address, confirm that you are on the Electoral Register), there is only one other reason why they would not give you a current account: there's some Nationwide-internal marker. Have you asked them?

They are relatively picky when it comes to giving out current accounts, but you still should be able to get one (provided your credit history is clean).

If your credit history is particularly 'full' (of stoozing activities or otherwise), this may be the reason for the decline. If this is the case, you can always appeal - which gives you the opportunity to explain why your credit history looks as it does.

I just tried to open one but after the searching for information given page it says this application is not available at this time.
Not sure if its refusing me or is it down to bank holiday ?.
