To answer the OP: BestBuy have some good offers also don't forget Walmart, they sell everything!
Gosh, so would you declare the trainers and sunglasses that you can buy half the price of over here when you come home aswell?0 -
Don't bother about changing the keyboard. The only difference (from what i can remember) is the " and @ are the opposite way around.
A friend at uni did this and all he needed to do was get a different extension for the power pack, (the part from the wall to the pack). His was a Sony and he's had no problems since.
When he came back he declared his at customs (Manchester) and the guard could see he was a student and said (possibly because he was lazy) that he didnt need to pay duty as it was for his studies.
I wouldnt bother declaring it, not like its massive VAT evasion, as for those who think otherwise go and get a life.0 -
Most of the cheaper keyboards/laptops sold in the UK have a US layout anyway!
just get a decent carry case to take it through customs in and you'll be fine!

Tax evasion is illegal and potentially imprisonable. This is a money saving website not a website on criminal activities. Customs Duty & Vat are payable on imports over the customs allowances. If you want these changed then lobbying your MP and the Chancellor are your best bet rather than advocating tax evasion.0 -
Have you thought about ordering a Dell from the US website to be delivered to your hotel / where you're staying? YOu can cost the laptop on the UK site & see if substantially cheaper on the US site
If you're not techy like me, you can get the worldwide support, then Dell UK can pop in to help with any issue (hardware, not software as I learnt to my £36 cost last week:eek: )
THat way yooou get the best of both worlds - have a good holiday."This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0
