Npower problems. Bill revered still taking payments

Hi everyone

1st time on here!

I am having big problems with npower. They supply me with both gas and electric. I pay then £150 per month

Here is brief story:
I give metre reading on 17th July as I was £750 in credit
. Metre reading was last read in feb and i completely cleared the bill. For some reason npower only give me bill every 6 months. I was told I would in credit and would get 120 back. On the 22nd July the bill got reversed. I rang and got told there was problem with billing system. This is very strange as this happened to me in feb.

I have lost count to the number of times I have complained to them. I get diff people every time no notes on the account either.

I have even complained by email to executive department as I was told ombudsman wouldn't look into this till I had.

Npower told me a maximum of 30 days I would have to wait for bill and still nothing.

I have manged to get a refund in the end for the 120 . But they have cancelled the direct debit for Aug payment and expect me to pay a manual payment . There is no way I am paying them any more money till bill be sorted.mi am £780 in credit with them

I am livid I've even asked for this back till they produce a bill but they won't

Any one else had this problem?

If I cancel e direct debit will they cut me off

Thanks

perhaps you should read this before cancelling the DD

  • I've not cancelled it they have

I doubt any 1 in right mind would carry on paying when they are that far a head in credit !

You are only in Credit by so much in theory rather than practice so it is not strictly lost cash.

When did you email the executive department? Did your complaint specifically say the word complaint?

No they won't cut you off but if you are on a tariff that requires payment via DD they will dump you onto their standard tariff, costing you much more .

If you are on the standard tariff already there won't be a problem other than you will lose any incentive/discount they give for paying by DD.

    Hi sootybear26,

This does seem a little odd that your bills are being reversed. Have you had an up to date, accurate bill using actual meter readings?

If you'd like me to look into this and find out what's happening here, please send me an email (address is on my profile page) with your account details.

    Best wishes,

    Adam :)

  • I am having a similar issue to this npower user also.

I recently decided to change energy providers following Wednesday nights (23-10-2013) Watchdog programme. I used the Uswitch website and found a better deal than what npower were currently offering so decided to switch that night.

I knew that I hadn't had a bill from npower for a while and thought one must be due so logged onto their website to have a check on where I was up to. I was surprised to find new bills for both gas and electric were actually due next day (24-10-2013) so I decided to submit up-to-date meter readings while I was on the website.

Next day - no bill from npower. Maybe the recent price changes have delayed these being released so I thought "let's give it a few days and see if anything come through". I am on a "standard" tariff so was fully expecting to be hit by these. We have reached Monday now (28-10-2013) and still no sign of any bills.

I have just logged onto the npower site again to check on progress and it appears my "next bill due date" has now changed to 25-04-2014 and there were actually two bills produced on the 25-10-2013 and charged to my account but then retracted.

At the moment, my gas account is approx £210 in credit and electric is approx £330 in credit. I am fully expecting this to be wiped out by revised bills but hopefully I will not owe npower anything before the switch.

I suppose the question is what happens next? I am assuming npower will send me one final bill before I switch anyway and all will be sorted but it seems strange that a bill has been produced and then reversed. Maybe the combination of up-to-date meter readings from me and recent price rises have a lot to do with this!

    Regards,
    Neil.
  • hi everyone

I have suffered the same problem recently with npower. On 3rd of Feb was asked to give meter readings on the 5th got my bill saying i was £310 in credit,on the 8th i phoned and asked for my refund.Iwas told it would take 10 working days,so i waited two weeks ,still no money so i rang again and was told my bill was reversed on the 10 th.Also on the 8th Feb 2014 they came and took their own readings and checked my meters.Today the 24th Feb they have taken another £110 from my bank diect debit but still no bill??? Any ideas what to do next.I am now £726 in credit no bill produced or paid and no refund?
  • Just phoned the customer helpline and was spoken at by the rudest person ive ever been spoken down to ,spoke to me like i was an idiot.Quick npower send me my bill so i can go to a decent energy supplier !!!
  • Sorry for being dense here but what does Bill reversal mean?
  • It means the bill has been cancelled, usually due to an error on it. They will then produce another bill to replace the reversed bill.
