Pregnant and sick

My daughter is 19 years and lives with us. She is currently 14 weeks pregnant and has been giving a sick note for at least 2 weeks. She works varying hours week to week sometimes under 16hours others over 16 hours, this last week nearly 40 hours, but is classed as casual staff and would not be entitled to sick pay from her employer.
Is there any benefit she could claim?

She WOULD be entitled to SMP through her employer is she has worked an average of £87 over her qualifying weeks.

The qualifying weeks are approximately the 8 weeks before week 25. If she is not receiving sick pay or only stat sick pay then this will probably fall under the average.

She will still have to hand her MATB1 in at work (she will recieve this from her Dr or midwife at week 25) and they need to do the calculations. If she doesnt qualify they need to return the MATB1 with an SMP1 form which she can take to the DWP to try and claim maternity allowance - I'm not too sure of the criteria for this but I am sure someone will be along soon.

If she is on the sick and not entitled to SSP from her employer then they should have provided an SSP1 form, again for her to take to DWP to make any relevent claims.

Her employer cannot make her take her mat leave because of sickness until she is 36 weeks.
