Ibis London Stratford

I was just wondering if you guys can give me an idea about this area. I am looking for a reasonably priced hotel to stay or 2 to 3 days every month or so or the next 2 years. I have homed my selection to this particular hotel. I checked googlemaps and this hotel is about 0.4 miles from the train station. I also noticed that this area has been built for some olympic events and remember my friend told me that these areas were generally quite rundown and rough (to be avoided). So, I was just wondering is it safe for me to walk on my own from the underground to the hotel say at about 11pm? My alternative option would be the london city ibis budget which comes to an average of £50 a night but that seems bit far from the Lincoln's field inn where I will be going or my course.

No idea but sticking the postcode in here http://www.police.uk/ should give you a clue
I would also be tempted to put something in a local paper to see if anyone has a room you could rent, you never know your luck.

Thanks for the reply. I had a look and I also posted on facebook. Seems that Stratford got a mixed feedback. Majority of them seems to say it is fine. I am planning on booking it pretty soon. When I arrive at London City Airport, it will be 830 PM. I guess by the time I get on the DLR to arrive at Stratford High Street Station, it will be around 915 PM. Is this area safe enough to walk from there to the holiday inn? I think its about 7 mins walk0

The latest review on Tripadvisor sugguests the Ibis Stratford is not the best of areas for a single traveller to stay.

I personally don't know Stratford that well as never really had much have call to go there but the shopping centre and area is one of the top crime hotspots in the UK.

Ibis London city gives you a number of travel options to Lincoln's Inn Fields and the journey time is less from there than from Stratford 30mins compared to 40 mins, you could get the no 25 bus from Aldgate East station which is 2 mins from the hotel to there. District line tube from the station to Temple and 5 min or so walk from there or you get the Hammersmith and city line to Liverpool Street and change to the central line for Holborn and about 5 walk from there. From the airport you could get the DLR to West Ham and change onto the district or Hammersmith and city to Aldgate East. If you have not already got an oyster card I would get one on arrival and register it online for your travel.
