They may be significantly more expensive to run than a proper fridge.
£50/year or so wouldn't surprise me.
The insulation on them tends to be very poor, and the heatpump is very inefficient due to being undersized for cost reasons.
Does it have a sticker on either it, or the adaptor that it plugs into indicating '20W' or similar?
For example - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Coca-Cola-Coke-Can-Office-Home-Room-Small-Mini-Fridge-Refrigerator-Cooler-CC10-/280869281315?pt=Refrigerators&hash=item41651d1e23 is fairly typical of the breed.
Note the key point 'cools up to 40 degrees F below ambient temperature' - this does not have a thermostat.
It runs all the time - using 60W of power.
(and will be really slow to cool down.)
This will take about £70 of electricity per year.
As a comparison - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0095GFB86 - will store more cans, and use (with an external thermostat set at 7C) about £5 of electricity per year, payback in about 5 years.0 -
You might be better off with a small 50l fridge. I had one in previous bedsit. I was really handy. Gave it to someone else when moved to bigger flat.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0

Quite - http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/1023172.htm - for example - would pay off in about a year.
Needless to say - other vendors are available.0 -
Or buy a large vacuum flask/jug.0
