Late payment on credit file

My wife has 24 late payments on her credit file starting from Feb 2004 to Nov 2007. The credit card account was paid & settled on Jan 2008. No default on credit file but too many 1 2 3 even 4 months late payment. We have been thinking to apply for a joint mortgage 2nd half of next year.
Bit confused when the late payment will drop from the credit file. Reported until Jan 2014 by lender, what does that mean?
Thanks.

Accounts are reported on your credit file for six years after the settlement date. This means that all mention of the account in question will disappear in Jan 2014 and therefore won't be visible to potential lenders when you apply to them. This obviously means that the late payments won't affect your chances of getting a mortgage.0
