"can't see kwik fit doing much apart from flogging you some new tyres"
They may try but they wont succeed
"You dont need to get on the floor though. Turn the wheel full lock and the tread is visible.
Not being able to bend down to check them isnt an excuse for having dodgy tyres."
To a disabled driver believe me it is difficult, just getting in and out of the car is difficult. I know it is MY responsibility but it is also a mechanics responsibility to do a proper job, and in this case it appears the job wasn't done properly.0 -
Where is your proof that the job was not done properly?
You may have hit a bump very recently that put the tracking out, It doesnt take long for the tyres to scrub and wear below the legal limit.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
sorry but being disabled doesnt deture you from being able to spot bad tyres, its not difficult to full lock to either left or right and stand and look at them.
i suffer spinal scoliosys and bendind is painfull, aswell as brittle asthmatic, i find it easy to full lock my steering and look down to my tyres, or get the main driver if unable to drive to do the routine weekly checks on a vehicle.
there is no excuse to not doing basic checks that are paramount to your safety in the vehicle aswell as other road users.
that aside, for such shredding im surprised you didnt feel steering issues such a vibrations in the steering wheel when at certain speeds, pulling to the left or right or funny knocking or thumping sounds when going over nornal road humps such as sleeping policemen, had the camber and tracking be so wrong upon driving out of the national chain it wouldnt have felt right from the moment you started on your way from the depot.
as youve not checked the tyres, odds on you havent checked coolant, oil or brake fluid levels during that time either check these before you do some serious damage to your car aswell like seize it up.0 -
Quick fit just check the tracking (toe in / toe out) most of the time.
It sounds like your car might have adjustable camber and that needs adjusted as well, but is usually separate and more expensive than just tracking set up.
Failing both of these, something is worn on the front end and causing the suspension to "sag"All your base are belong to us.0 -
Update for everybody, Took the car in, it went up on the lift and the steering, suspension etc was checked. Nothing mechanically wrong at all. The Manager who inspected it said the wear on the tyres was very unusual, really good tread everywhere except the insides. He said all he could think that could have caused the pattern was incorrect alignment and immediately offered to change the tyres and realign the wheel himself. I was gobsmacked I didn't even have to suggest that I wanted them replaced.
After fitting he gave me the printout from the new alignment machine and said "The alignment was spot on - Its the best anything has been on the machine since we got it" He then said it may have been faulty tyres, He shook my hand and I left very happy. Total cost to me was the fuel to get there. Absolutely great service.
In case anyone is wondering it was South Shields branch.
Maybe after all the bad press they are getting someone has decided to change things.0
