Will it still be uncomfortably hot for sightseeing then?

Looking at the averages, it'll be very warm, but not hot during the day, and in the evenings cardigans would be advisable.0

I've been at the mid/end of September and it was fine then - we did open places like the Coloseum early morning before it got too warm and spent lunchtimes having relaxing lunches in the shade and visiting indoor places because I am the palest person ever and only have to look at the sun before I break out in a sweat and go bright pink! I was fine although it did cost me a fortune in water and cold drinks - we ended up finding a supermarket and buying bigger bottles of water. Enjoy your trip Rome is amazing and there are so many must sees"I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." Paul Theroux0

Yes, I already looked before posting. Some places can be comfortable at a certain temperature whilst others aren't - something to do with humidity - it's not something one can judge just by looking at average temperature tables.0 -
Thanks - just the sort of info I was looking for. I'll go ahead, I think.skint_chick wrote: »I've been at the mid/end of September and it was fine then - we did open places like the Coloseum early morning before it got too warm and spent lunchtimes having relaxing lunches in the shade and visiting indoor places because I am the palest person ever and only have to look at the sun before I break out in a sweat and go bright pink! and its not something one cant comment on unless one knows how one is with heat/humidity for example i'm no fan of heat and humidity and yet the ex loved it.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
It's tricky to judge, it can still be very warm but shouldn't be as bad as July / August. For hardcore sightseeing May / October would probably be better as will be cooler mid day but then your evenings wouldn't be as lovely for seeing Rome by night / eating outside.
Some people swear by going in November or February as it's much cooler and apparently less crowded but then it rains more, gets dark earlier, isn't really warm enough to eat outdoors etc.
I would say May or October could be better if you are worried about the heat, but as in the UK you could have a heatwave in May and an unusually cool September. You can never be sure so I wouldn't let it put you off visiting. Enjoy!0 -
Thanks. I'm getting quite a bargain price for September so think I'll risk it.0
