Re-wiring a house in Herts

Can you tell me what you think of this quote please?

22 double sockets
8 lights and switches (3 in bedrooms, 2 in hallway, 2 bathrooms, 1 lounge)
16 down lights in kitchen and dining room
1 immersion heater rewire
2 smoke alarms, 1 heat alarm
wiring for cooker, dishwasher, kitchen fan, washing machine, fridge freezer
2 florescent lights in garage
outside lights front and back
consumer unit
2 earth cables to gas and water

The house is near enough unfurnished and we said we'd move out during the work.

£3700 and no vat to pay

Seems a little expensive but that depends which part of Herts. you're in. Have you obtained a few quotes?

You may be able to shave a few hundred off that quote.

Any idea what brand consumer unit they have specified?

Presumably it includes chasing and making good of walls?

  • depends on the layout of the property too, doesn't seem too bad, all certified of course?

    Certified, yes.

Think it includes chasing but not making good of walls as we said we're getting them plastered anyway.

No brand of consumer unit was specified - is there one I should request or particularly say no to?
