Nationwide additional 1% cashback bonus

Hello all,

I have a Nationwide 20 month Balance Transfer Account (which I moved all my credit card debt and pay off equal sums every month for the 20 months). I have just got this letter below:

--

'Your Nationwide Credit Card got more rewarding'

Dear Mrs. Macdonald,

Good News, here's another benefit from your Nationwide Credit Card.

Between 1st September and 27 November 2013 your automatically get 1% cashback on all eligible spend* over £200 in a calendar month.

Your 1% cashback will be paid into your account in the month after the period of your eligible spend has exceeded £200.00, appearing as a Credit on your statement.

If you've got another cardholder on the account, their spend counts too.
---
I believe that only customers that receive this letter will be eligible for this promotion.

I don't think I will go for it as I have the Balance Transfer on the card and thus any spend will immediately occur interest - and my rate is 15.9%, so I presume the cashback will not outweigh the interest?
Thank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!

    what does over 200 mean?
e.g if you spend 300 do you get 1% of 300 or 1% of 100?
  • I presume it means that if you spend, say £500, you will get £5 (1% of £500), but if you spend £100 - you won't get anything, as it's not over the 'Eligible Spend Minimum' - but I could be corrected?
Thank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!

I think it's best to assume the minimum so you don't get disappointed.

From what you pasted, it says "on all eligible spend over £200" which means £3 for £500 to me.

If you have a BT on it then it's useless.
