Last year when I moved into our olf flat, we were signed up with NPower. I set up a DD for £30 and they said it would be enough each month. Fast forward to when we move out, and get an outstanding balance. They gave us 3 different ones, which kept going up. We're trying to pay them off, but can't afford £90 a month. They said we only have 6 months to pay it off. We tried to make a payment, but they wouldn't let us because if we did make a payment, we would have to set a DD for £80. We still cannot afford this. They will not let us pay any of it off to get the monthly payments down. It's been 3 months since we moved and we have not paid any off. What can I do? I cannot believe they won't take any money and are trying to force us to pay more than what we can afford.
Can they do this?

You can contact energywatch by telephone or via the website. Using these two methods is the quickest ways of ensuring that you reach the person most able to help you.
This is because complaints or enquiries are not necessarily dealt with by the office nearest to where the person making the complaint or enquiry lives.
As a consumer watchdog we’re extremely conscious of responding to consumers as quickly as possible and of giving value for money, and we believe that the system we use is the best way of achieving this.

What actually happened??
I've had utility and other companies be funny with me over payments but I've noticed that if I send them a cheque with a complaint letter the cheque is ALWAYS cashed.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
