I want to buy my husband and Ipod of some sort, but I'm not sure whether to get him a Nano (8gb £169) or the Ipod (30gb £179). He's not a avery patient person so I need to know what one would be easier to use, it will be used more for music rather than video although storing photographs could be usefull. Any help appreciated.

In terms of ease of use, they are identicle - they both function in the same way.
30gb is a lot of storage space, I'm sure he'll never fill it even if he has a massive music collection
The nano, in my opinion, looks a tad more stylish compared to it's chunkier brother, however, the nano may also take less "punishment" and wont have the same ruggedness of the original iPod.
To summerise -
Both "act" in the same way
Nano is more stylish
iPod can take more beatings.

Nano has less moving parts (solid state memory) compared to the ipods hard drive. This means that the hd is more likely to go if used roughly and or skip if used during exercise.0

It just really depends on where he is going to use it. I own a 30gb ipod and i think its brilliant as i can listen to my music but when i get bored of that i can watch a film. The Nano as someone said is more stylish and is easier to carry as it is smaller. If he is going to use it in the house and car things like that then the 30gb is alot better value but if he is going to use it on the go (walking, going to work on public transport) then the Nano could be better as it is alot easier to carry and will fit in any pocket as it is small.
Each work in the same way and are both great products you just need to see which one is right for the situation.
Sorry to add my own question here but has anybody ever brought a replacement battery for a 30gb ipod from Maplins and fitted it? Im just asking as my battery is on its way out and im going to need to replace it. I can either pay £80 to have apple do it for me or buy a batter for £20 from Maplins. It says on the website it is tricky to do but just how tricky as if its too hard i dont want to totally wreck my ipod. thanksOffical MSE Fantasy League Member:beer:0 -
I had a 30gb ipod but ended up selling it and getting a nano. its for the simple reason that along side my phone, camera, wallet and inhaler it just didnt fit in my pockets.
You can still wach movies on nanos if you really want just download the ipod linux software.
As for changing the battery in your ipod, youtube it. its a lot easier once you've seen someone else do it.The Optimist and the Pessimist
