Tumble Dryer or Radiators?

Options
Which to use in the summer when the weathers wet outside?

Which ones the cheaper to run?

Probably have the rads on for 2 hours if needed

Haven't got a tumble dryer as yet.

    Look at http://www.sust-it.net/
who say they can cost anything from £30-£100+ pa depending on model and assuming average use of 2-3 times a week...

But a side effect of using rads (or tumble d's if you don't vent them to outside the property) will be damp, condensation and mould- unless you ventilate!
  • Drying everything on radiators would make the house somewhat damp, and it also tends to mark the paint/wallpaper around the radiators. I'd go for a TD - I couldn't be without mine!

If its wet in the summer I just put the clothes on a clothes horse and they dry overnight without any radiators going on. Not really good for towels though, will finish them off in the tumble dryer.

I hate drying clothes indoors, but am always wary of tumble dryers shrinking my, erm, delicates.

try to time your washing day to co-incide with nice drying weather if at all possible. Even a couple of hours in windy weather can make quite a difference..then there won't be so much to dry off indoors!

i have a hanging rail (round piece of wooden dowelling) attached to the underside of shelf in utility room. clothes go from washing machine straight on to hangers. they dry overnight and can go into wardrobes with no need to fold or iron.:D
