HSBC Credit Card PPI Advice

Options
To cut a long story short - I reclaimed loan PPI from HSBC but was denied my |Credit Card claim. I then took this to the ombudsman who are dealing with this now. My question is this....When I took the credit card out, I worked part time - 16 hours per week. Recently I received a "review of services" from HSBC in which they stated - we have details that you work 16 per week and therefore your PPI service would not cover you in the event of a claim - please update our records if this is no lnoger the case.

Nowadays, I am full-time emploed but as far as I understand it - HSBC are admitting that they sold me a PPI polocy which they knew full well would not cover me due to my working hours....yet they sold it to me anyway. To me, this is as good as admitting fault as one will ever get - so I struggle to see how they could deny my claim in the first place.

just wondered what people think and whether they agree that this is blatant mis-selling and that the ombudsman will find in my favour?

As always, any views or opinions are greatly appreciated :)

Thanks for reading

Depends on your circumstances at point of sale. If you were ineligible when it was sold then it should be upheld.

  • Thanks for the reply - This is my point - they were well aware of my working only 16 hours per week at the time of sale as I have never updated any details concerning this with them, and they have proceeded to inform of this fact during my "annual Review of services" therefore, they knew at the time I worked 16 hours, and also that the policy would not cover me - as they have so politely informed me.

From my point of view - they have sealed their own fate by confirming that the polocy they provided me with would not cover me due to my working hours - of which they knew at the time of sale
  • Weird. My HSBC policy stated 'not less than 16 hours a week'. Working 16 hours a week would have made me eligible.

This is standard with PPI 16 hours is the usual minimum. As stated above if you hadn't been eligible the complaint would have been upheld.
