Selling/ Renting out a Facebook page.

I have a Facebook page that has close to 400,000 fans, I get a lot of offers from people who want to buy the page, normally it's approximately $1 for every 1000 fans some offers have been as much as $650 to even $1000. One guy in Pakistan now is offering me $20 a day to rent the page or £3,500 to buy it,. For rent he just wants to be made into a "content creator" (Content creators can do what admins can do except for creating and deleting admins) and the email address of my Paypal account. Could this be a scam, if so, how?

I don't know, but I guess he could embed Javascript to install malware on people's machines... As the "owner" of the page, wouldn't that make you technically liable...?

You can not sell or rent a facebook page because you technically do not own the page.

    It belongs to facebook.

I don't know but it sounds dodgy to me and I tend to go with my gut instincts.

H'mmm something somewhat odd here - you can buy 'likes' by the thousand pretty inexpensively, so what would the guy really be buying?

£3500 is too high for a straight advertising campaign, so I'd be wary of your good name becoming attached to a scam of some kind - no way back from that.

what sort of advise is that?

if he rents/sells his FB page then the page would still be linked to his FB account, so anything that is done through the FB page will be his responsibility, so anything that FB feel is ILLEGAL will see his FB account closed and him being barred, while the buyer will just go con another FB user to sell/rent him a page and the whole process starts again as the buyer takes no risk.

I have a second FB account I'd transfer control of the page to.

I cannot even get to 10 likes lol

A while ago a lot of people were buying and selling these group pages, but what you have to ask yourself is what he is planning to do with it; if you rent your space out you will likely see that 400,000 plummet if there gets to be spam.

If I put in all that work there is no way in hell I would let anyone anywhere near it.
