Holiday cancellation due to terminally ill parent

So sorry for Jason its all very stressful at times like this, I too am going through a similar thing with the death of my uncle, but there are several issues with this post.
Why have insure and go refused to pay out if the cancer was declared. The first post says the cancer was 18 months ago, but the holiday was booked this year so unfortunately it is a pre existing medical condition and relevant because had the mum died whilst Jason was on holiday he would have wanted to fly home and that would have cost the insurance company money.
Erics mum there is less than 3 weeks to go before this expensive holiday costing £2500 who do you think Thomas Cook are going to sell this holiday to, to reclaim the money so they can move Jason to a different week. So if they can't resell this holiday TC then make a loss, that's why you have insurance which brings us back to the original post of whether the cancer was properly declared.0 -
I am pretty sure in the T&C of Insure and Go, they state that they wont pay out for a relative with a pre existing condition. I am a sucker for reading travel insurance to make sure if i ever do need it, they will pay out.0

OP I am really sorry to hear about your mother.MiraculousM wrote: »I am pretty sure in the T&C of Insure and Go, they state that they wont pay out for a relative with a pre existing condition. I am a sucker for reading travel insurance to make sure if i ever do need it, they will pay out.
I'm wondering if in the first post the OP meant that they didn't obtain coverage for this pre-existing condition (vs didn't declare it which is what was originally said) because it wasn't thought to be necessary due to the current status of his mum's condition...normally you could arrange for cover for a pre-existing condition, depending on the circumstances there may be an additional cost...unless Insure and Go just have a blanket no-coverage for pre-existing conditions or something.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
I think probably at the point of trying to cancel there was no definite timeframe therefore the insurer would not accept it as a necessary cancellation. I would expect that OP would have been covered in the event of something happening immediately before travel or while they were away.0
