Road tax is small change compared to what you will lose in depreciation.

£6000+ Buys many many years worth of road tax.

    £15000 car with a 0% deal

    Or a £15000 car with a 15% discount and 8% interest?

    You do the maths.

Given that example, if the finance is over 5 years, the 0% is the better option.

Meh, it won't be anything exciting - Fiesta, Polo, Corsa, Jazz - that sort of thing. They are all much of a muchness and as long as I have aircon, MP3 input and cheap road tax I'm not bothered.

Just buy a Fabia then, some have 0% finance, some have cheap tax.

I'm going to be buying a maximum of 1.2 engine. It will be no bigger than the cars I mentioned. One will have better MPG, another will have better 0-60, another has nicer trim. I've never considered that this means much to me as I drive so few miles that even better mileage makes the difference of only a few pounds. That's what I mean about all being pretty much the same.

I usually weed out certain cars on the look of them and then choose on the best deal available. It's just a means to get from A to B when not using my husband's car.

Don't worry, Jeremy has praised the Fiesta, Corsa and Jazz in the past.
