Insuring car at parents address?

Hi, this is my first time posting in this section, hope this is the right place for this.
We currently live in a city centre flat and there is no available parking. Street parking isn't allowed. We are planning to move to a house by the end of the year (we're still househunting). I passed my test christmas 2011 but haven't driven since as we couldn't afford a car +insurance + parking (our apartment block has a waiting list for parking spots but we have been on it for over a year now and no luck, furthermore it adds another £50 pcm to our rent!)
Anyway, we are now in a position to buy a car and insure it but the parking is still an issue. Would it be possible to insure the car at my parents address? I would be 100% upfront about it with the insurer that the car wasn't kept at our address, I don't know if they would still think it was dodgy or not? My parents area has low car insurance and here it is pretty high (Liverpool! :rotfl:)
Do you pay for where the car is kept or where you live? If it is the latter I will have to wait until we move house, but I'd rather be able to have the car, use it and get used to driving again first - It would make househunting much easier!
Thanks for reading.

If its kept overnight at your parents house then you can tell your insurer that. However, when will you be driving it?Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0

I'll be getting the train to my parents and then driving it, probably 3-4 days a week. It's a bit of a faff but it will only be a temporary measure until we've moved. Thanks.0

By the time you caught the train to your parents, Could you not just take the train to your destination?
I can see you spending many hours on the phone to the insurance company if you ever needed to claim.
With them just saying NO we wont be paying out and NO your no longer insured.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Just say "kept on the street" at your home address (which can mean several streets away easily).
And park where you like then. If something happens, you have been visiting the parents, which is a total truth.
What if a person goes to, say, Manchester from London, parks the car there for 10 days and gets an accident (someone bumps into his car). Insurers should not expect to get away with this being "not your home address" overnight!
Nobody will question, just state "parked on the street" and park near your home sometimes, on the street, or at your parents, sometimes.0 -
The insurance usually asks where the car will be normally be parked.
If it's at your parents then that's the main place...0
