Virgin Credit card - Balance transfer

I've recently been accepted for a Virgin Credit card and was told at the end of the join process that my limit will be £4200.

During the application i asked to B/T £4500, my question (you can probably guess) is will they still carry out the transfer up to maximum allowed or not do it at all?

I've tried calling Virgin twice today but was in a queue for quite a while befored hanging up.

Many Thanks.

They are extremely unlikely to transfer it, as the system should refuse it, because the maximum anyone can transfer to the card is 90% of the card limit. Failing that the system should return it back to where it came from.

If their system lets it through and you end up with a higher balance than limit, then you would be well advised to contact them straightaway, as it could lead to hassle for you and a potential trashed credit record.

It's highly likely, you'll end up with an overlimit charge, which trashes your credit record and the 0% ends immediately that happens, so it's worthless to you anyway.

I would expect that they will contact you and say you can only transfer 90% of your card limit over. Or unlikely but they could say, ok we will give you a higher limit and process it, or even that provided you pay the excess now, we will transfer 90% and take a debit card payment from you for the rest.

    It's 95%, including any BT/MT fee. :)
