Cant remember the name of a bank

We took out a personal loan with a bank in 2001/02 and when we took it we were told we wouldn't get it unless we took PPI. The bank either closed or merged and we can't find the paperwork for the loan. All we can remember is it was a 4 letter name, like HBSC or RBSC but its not either of those. Can someone help jog our memories?

No, unitl you remember whic one it is, no-one can help you.

You will either have to phone the banks, and ask, but due to the length of time ago, you're more likely to have to send a SAR and £10 to each bank you think it is until you find the right one.

Is this any help? They have lists of bank going back to 2001.

You remember being told you had to have it, but you can not remember the bank name, I have heard eveything now.

And this might be a bit of a long shot - try looking at your credit report?

credit reports only show the past 6 years of activity.

Could be GMAC, especially if it was a car loan through a dealership - seem to remember they had a heap of complaints before going bang (and/or being bailed out by the USians).
