On HB renting from relative?

I don't know if he knew about the permitted work thing...thanks..I will tell him. Although tbh, his mental state at the moment is worrying my mum and I so much I don't know if he'd manage.
I have asked our local council and they can't give a yes or no answer until he makes a claim, which would mean if they say no he would be homeless...as mum can't afford to have him live there for nothingIts all mind over matter. I don't mind and you don't matter:rotfl:0 -
No issues with renting from his Mother as far as I can see and the Mother can charge whatever rent she wants. As long as the tenancy is on a commercial basis and isn't contrived. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0

Thanks.
Just confusing as at first my brother was told by HB dept that he couldn't rent from mum under any curcumstances..which I know is untrue as I have done it....
Then we were told maybe but we won't know until you apply.
Guess he just has to make a decision and go with it...just hope he doesn't end up homeless. Its all mind over matter. I don't mind and you don't matter:rotfl:0 -
Your Mother has rented out the property commercially in the past. Although the Council will look a bit closer to the tenancy as long as it is commercial and not contrived there shouldn't be any problems. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0

She is wanting to slightly lower the rent due to house repairs and decoration...but my brother is willing to pay the shortfall as he wants to live in the property. I just thought council might say no as he can't get £400-450 a month...
How's he going to make up a shortfall of £50 per week if he's on JSA?0 -
