Equifax - exercise extreme caution

I recently requested my statutory credit report from all Experian and Equifax. On my Equifax account, under the 'My Account' tab it clearly says 'You have purchased Equifax Statutory Credit Report™ at £2.00. This product will expire on 31/08/13'. Regardless of this, Equifax debited my account with £9.95.
On calling them, they told me that because I signed up for a free trial last year, requesting my statutory report apparently reactivates this trial and therefore, as I did not cancel I've been charged. Of course, I didn't cancel because I requested, and apparently received, my statutory report. I had no idea they have reactivated this account.
Of course, I have now cancelled it and I have requested a full refund of the money they have taken. This is apparently going to take 10 working days.
So, keep a close eye on Equifax. I can't believe the hassle I've had from both Equifax and Experian - all for the sake of checking information they have on me. Incredible.

I ordered a statutory report over a month ago and haven't been charged to date. How long did it take for them to charge you? What will your verse be?

That's very naughty of them!
I wonder how many people wouldn't have noticed...:beer:0 -
Naughty? It is downright dishonest. It seems that if you sign up for a free trial they are denying you your legal right to your report for just £2happy_bunny wrote: »That's very naughty of them!
I wonder how many people wouldn't have noticed...You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -

As it is a £2 Statutory Credit Report we are talking about, there should be nothing in the Terms and Conditions which covers that hole over for them.Thrugelmir wrote: »How many people read the small print in Trial Offer though?
Be stupid to think that this hole wasn't covered over. You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
The £2 Statutory report is just that. It is your legal right for a copy of the data for £2. It is not a request to re-activate a cancelled trial. If Equifax don't refund, call your card company and report an unauthorised transaction.0

Thanks for the advice - just to update Equifax have refunded the money.0
