Visa for USA

I am still unsure why you wanted to apply for a Visa, most UK citizens only require an ESTA unless you have been in trouble with the law.
An ESTA takes a few minutes on this site
https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/
and costs $14
If you only need an ESTA and it looks like you have got one from TVTUSA as they are a site that will apply for the ESTA for you at a cost, check on the official US site (link above) by putting your application details in
As said it does look like you have an ESTA, just a shme you didntcome looking for advice first rather than after the event0 -

Scottish call centre who run the contract.most UK citizens only require an ESTA unless you have been in trouble with the law
:wall:
Being in trouble with the law is not a defining criteria to say you cannot use ESTA.

DS-160 is a non-immigrant visa.
Depending how far you got in that process you MAY be questioned by CBP on arrival as to why you started that process.0 -

I didnt say it was a defining criteria, it was a gneralisation to try and help the OP so no need to hurt your head0 -
Think the op may be in enough trouble depending how far the ds-160 application went.
Generalisation is never good, as someone may see your post who was fined for littering (capital offense IMO), arrested for asking a policeman for his badge number (does happen), got a speeding ticket etc etc etc.
and sees a post

All three example above would fall into this category.0 -
I went into website to apply for a USA visa. On this website ais.usvisa-info.com I completed the application form, but became unstuck when asked for a DOS-160 number.......
I didn't know what on earth this was, so I phoned for help on 0906 820 0290. The chap on the end of the phone couldn't help me....he said..... and told me to go to a website called travel.state.gov.
Was there a reason that you thought you would need a visa?
It sounds like it is just a misunderstanding of terminology - unless there is a reason that you and your husband do not qualify for the visa waiver programme then, in theory, the ESTA you have is what you need.
If you are concerned you can go to the site that has been posted a few times - here:
https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/
Use the retrieve application option - put in your details and there you can double check all is OK.
Whether there is any concern over starting a visa application, I wouldn't know but presumably it does happen where people get confused and abort the application when they realise it's not needed or get stuck on a question they cannot answer like you found.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
I gave up and went to a website called TravelVisaToUsa.com completed the form and was given ESTA status.
also, this site is naughty for using 'ESTA Visa'...ESTA is not a visa.
nevermind for charging so much over the odds for their 'service'...unlike some other sites they don't make it clear that you can get it yourself for $14 on the official site...though maybe it's mentioned later in the process.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
