Please help - Amazon

Hi everyone, not sure whether this is correct section but need some help. Last week i had an email from amazon saying my seller account had been suspended due to unusual activity, i havnt used my seller account for years, i looked on the account and a mobile phoe had been put for sale on it, my bank details had also been changed, this had triggered amazon to realis eit was fraud so they suspended it and changed it all back and all was well. However i woke up sunday to an email from amazon informing me they had taken £366.04 from my account to refund the seller! I checked my bank and this was correct, i tried to contact amazon, could only do it by email and explained the situation and the fact that meant all my money in my bank had been taken by them, my account had gone overdrawn when i dont have an overdraft and i had to change my plans as i now had no money! Im also 8 months pregnant and do not need extra stress! After 24 hours i got a reply saying theyd looked and yes it shouldnt have been taken and i can now go onto my account and request a refund, which i did, and then found it would take 3-5 days! The money is only just going back into my account tomorrow! So for 5 days ive had no money due to their mistake! Am i wrong to ask for some sort of compensation for this really bad inconvenience they have caused me??????

Well for a start, you bank just might refund the fees they would otherwise charge for you going overdrawn.

Secondly, they could set up an overdraft facility so that in future you don't have to survive for five days without money.

Of course you can also send a bill to Amazon for your losses.

Have you now closed your dormant Amazon seller account so that the same thing cannot happen again?

Why should i have to get an overdraft though when i dont want one! I had plenty of money in my accoutn until amazon took it out without authorisation! And no i havnt closed it down yet as i want to know the money is in my account first! Companies should not be allowed to get away with this without any action against them its ridiculous!

Amazon could argue that their customers shouldn't be allowed to get away with passwords that can be guessed/hacked, 8 months pregnant or not.........

BTW, less than £366 in the bank when you're about to have a baby is not "plenty of money".

Well, in case this sort of thing ever happens again.
It would certainly help you avoid stress, and my understanding is that putting the facility in place costs very little... maybe nothing.
Just because an overdraft facility is in place, does not mean you have to use it.

As has already been said, for your circumstances, maybe you didn't have 'plenty of money'.

    Good point. Probably wise.

Absolutely right... but remember... you don't need the stress. :D

I notice that you have totally ignored my point about asking your bank to refund their fees... but never mind... it's late.

How dare you! This is such a nonsense thing to say!
and how disrespectful towards the OP.
and, surprise-surprise, you seem to rack 10-15 posts each working day...One of those knowledgeable regulars whose primary function is to intimidate OPs enough so they do not ask for any compensation...
You obviosly do not seem yo be able yo comprehend that a person can have a different account, a saving one with £100000000000 in it, but with limits to withdrawals - such as losing interest if withdraw. So plenty of money for real emergencies but no money to satisfy amazon's extravaganza.
However, people who have lots of money on savings accounts tend to b too busy to have 4000 posts a year on a forum... So, I understand that you did not understand the OP.

Dear OP, speak to Amazon and ask for £60 in amazon vouchers as compensation. Put this in writing if needed. .but , in all likelihood, they will compensate.

What a rude thing to say! Why do I need lots of money in my bank just because I'm about to have a baby! Such an ignorant comment to make! And yes as the other poster said I have money elsewhere but limited access! I still don't get why people are suggesting it would be better for me to have money in my bank incase problems like this happen errr no it would be better if companies sorted problems out and didn't allow this to happen! And as for the password comment I'm not stupid my passwords are never easy passwords to hack!

I didn't mean to ignore the bank charge bit yeah I would definitely be doing that :)
