Letter from aktiv saying i am "dead"

My mother received a letter today addressed to me " to the executor of the late ........... (me) I am still alive and I do see my mother everyday. This letter came from a company that I owed £48 to 11 years ago. Why would they send this type of letter out?

I don't think you can chase a debt after that time.

After 11 years it is too late for them to chase the debt. Just ignore it!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Unless OP acknowledges the debt - if they do then the company gets another 6 years (debts are statute barred 6 years from the last acknowledgement). They've probably sent the letter hoping that you'll call them and during the call you will say something that acknowledges the debt. Ignore the letter.
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!

If the OP has not acknowledged the debt in the last 5 (6 for scotland) years then it is already S.B. as the debt was from 11 years ago. The OP can then quite happily acknowledge the debt a million times but it wont remove the S.B.

They can chase the debt ad infinitum, what they cannot do is enforce it through the courts.

Yes and because they cannot enforce debts after 6 years ( nothing they can do to force you to pay) then genuine debt agencies will not waste resources chasing debts they cannot recover legally.

Won't they? If you look at the loans, DFW etc boards you will see lots of cases where 'genuine' DCAs have pursued debts post SB.
