Which brand appliances for new kitchen?

Options
My kitchen is being started in 5 weeks, so I need to sort out which brand appliances I would like.

I need a dishwasher, electric oven, gas hob, cooker extractor hood and a washing machine with built in drier.

Using a few well known online suppliers I've been quoted £2200 for all of the above in Bosch. The same in Zanussi is a shade over £1500.

The reason I went for a quote with Bosch is I've been told its very good quality stuff. The reason I chose a quote with Zanussi appliances is because I've had a Zanussi washer drier from new and its never missed a beat.

So is the Bosch stuff really worth the extra and are there any other brands I should be considering before making a purchase?
Or can anyone recommend any other brands that are reasonable cost with good quality?

Bosch is much better than Zanussi. For a shade more you can get Neff or Siemens which look better and probably have nicer features too.

Define what you mean by good quality. I bought Bosch on the grounds that they are a mid price range product, decent but not expensive.

    Which did a survey:

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/german-company-miele-dominates-which-survey-on-britains-best-home-appliances-8426154.html

    So did JD Power:

The above two surveys completely contradict each other!

Oven/hob/extractor: Neff has always been my 1st choice for the last 25 years. Excellent quality and the only time I had a problem, they went out of their way to fix it.

Dishwasher/washing machine: I have both Siemens at the moment, but had Bosch previously, both reliable and energy-efficient.

If I were you, I'd go to your local John Lewis and see if they can do something - you will get a far better guarantee and after sales service than if buy from online discount stores.
For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.

Would second the advice above for freestanding appliances. AEG, Zanussi's German cousin would be a good Bosch alternative, and more at their level both in quality and price. JL's own brand gear is all Electrolux group (Zanussi, lux or AEG).

I think Bosch, Neff and Siemans are all the same company, so likely to be similar machines.

Miele, no question. Yes it's more expensive than the ones you have mentioned, but they last for ages and they are reliable. In the long term you'll save money.

Keith,i note you mention John Lewis we checked their prices and they were very expensive on Siemens,we replaced every appliance in the kitchen and they could not compete.
I was told they are struggling with the kitchen suppliers because they have targets and when exceeded the discount increases for them given they have sole distribution agreements,my double oven was £140 cheaper, coffee machine £109,hob £78 etc etc.

Bosh Neff Siemens are almost identical. Pick the one you like the look of. Recommend pyrolitic ovens.

AEG is not what it used to be. For an appliance that is priced similar to AEG, BSH products IMO are better. That said Electrolux group (Zanussi, Electrolux and AEG) laundry and dishwashing products are good.
