Postgraduates 2013/14

Options
Are there any other postgraduates on there who have (or are planning to) opened a student account soon?

If so, who did you open your account with, how was the experience and how much interest free overdraft have you been offered?

When I was a postgrad, I retained my undergrad student account with the Coop bank. They offered me a £1000 EAR-free overdraft when I started with them as an undergrad in 2008, rising to £2000 by the end of my undergrad, and remaining at that level throughout my postgrad.

Many banks do not differentiate between undergrad and postgrad applicants. Barclays for instance offer a £2K overdraft to students, stipulating in their preconditions that applicants must be enrolled in either an undergrad or postgrad course. Santander offer a special postgrad current account with a £1.8K EAR-free overdraft facility.

I originally had a student account with Natwest however that's now converted into a current account with an interest-free overdraft of £500 so I was thinking of keeping that and opening a new account with someone else.

I'm thinking of deciding between Barclays and the Co-op, and avoiding Santander after reading the numerous poor customer service posts.

I went with coop, £1400 overdraft, easy enough to set up. No problems so far.
