Because it's not. It depends what you are buying in each.
M is perfectly capable of being a lot more expensive on items on which they have finished having a special offer for example. Just the same as everywhere else is. These items get removed from, rather than highlighted on my list*. I can give you examples of items (in M) that have risen from £1 one week to go back up to £2.68 the next.
And on SP Ketchup, the equivalent of that has risen to 40p, also there's the Savers Styling Gel - previous week 15p, now 32p.
There are other 'SP/Savers-range' items in M that you may not be aware of M being much more expensive on, simply because, as a result, these have never appeared on my list (though I keep checking each week the prices of items and then going and finding out, yet again, when I check the prices at A, T etc., that M is much more expensive on them).
A couple of examples now stick with me - the equiv. to SP Chocolate Drink is 62p in M!:eek: Has been for many months. A and T are 48p each. Savers Chilli Con Carne tin is 69p (price unchanged over many months). T and A are 54p.
I remember how, at the beginning of my lists on here, a lot of the Savers range was one or two pence higher in price than the A and T (and sometimes also S) versions - therefore these items were always put onto my Avs T (by me folks, BTW, not a computer!:D) and left off the 'vs M'. Later, M went on 'new lower' price on a significant number of its Savers range (perhaps because people generally were perceiving that M was slightly more expensive on this range than T/S/A), the then new M prices meaning that items such as Shaving Gel, SP Soups and SP Irish Stew went onto the Avs M list as well as vs T/S.
M's still 18p on the Sparkling and Still Savers waters. This is being kept off the M list as technically S is 17p on their equivalents - even though it's not that bad on vs M.
M is cheaper?? Black Tower B Rose wine (75cl bottle) £3.49 special offer in M this past week. A £3.00 (no offer showing on that) on msm - therefore Avs T N/A, Avs S N/A and Avs W N/A. Do not vs M as more expensive!!:rotfl: I know what's not made it onto my M list.
*You may therefore not notice them much.0 -

I dont make jams usually chutneys but a couple of years ago I made pickled pears and they were absolutely delish with cold meats.
Peel 6 pears, hard ones best, remove stalk and bit at bottom(do not cut pears or remove core keep whole)
place in saucepan and cover with vinegar say half wine vinegar and half malt or use all wine if you have a good stock of it and 75 gms of sugar.
Add whole spices-20 peppercorns cinnamon stick, 8 star anise, chilli flakes, whole alspice, cloves etc etc.
Basically any spices that you have or like add to the mix.
Simmer for 10 mins till pears are soft.
Pack pears in jars and fill to brim with vinegar mix including spices.
Leave to mature for at least six weeks.
HTH
that sounds good mind if i borrow the recipe:D
we have several pear trees and what does not get eat i usually jar, infact just had some in cranberry juice with icecream for pudding boys love them but that sounds like something different i could try0
