Halifax Rewards: payments in via cheque

does anyone know whether, if paying in cheques to meet Halifax Rewards' minimum requirements to pay £5/month, the cheques have to clear within the calendar month, or whether just being paid in and showing on the account within the calendar month would qualify:question:

I would say it would have to be cleared funds into the account.

While paying in a cheque to your account will show as a credit it wont show as cleared funds until the cheque has actually passed the clearing system which is 5 working days if I remember from the last time I paid a cheque into my Halifax account.

Also you need to have 2 direct debits paid within the calendar month to, to get the £5 reward not just pay in £750.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both.

I'd say you'd be OK after day 2 (of the 2-4-6 process), but wouldn't risk it.
  • I'd say day of deposit is what matters - as long as it is dated within the relevant month.

I can't be 100% sure for Halifax as I haven't gone that close to the wire but I have with Nationwide and that was fine.

It depends on the date that it shows on your statement

    thank you for replies.

it will show on the statement the day it is paid in.

i will be putting £1k cheques into 2 of my HR accounts this week. they'll show on the statement in August, but won't be cleared until September.

however, i have moved £1k in & out from another Halifax account, so should be covered by one, or both, methods.
