Liability quotes?

If this is the wrong section then a mod please feel free to move.

It's that time of year when my business insurance is coming up. Previously I was with Simply Business, the cover price and package suited me fine before but now I want to see if I can squeeze a few pound out of others.

Can anyone suggest some good starting points for shopping around for liability insurance?

Just Google it, there are quite a few commercial brokers on the systems now.

There's an insurance thread just a few rows above this one (it's a sticky), probably worth a look.

Personally, very happy with Hiscox Business who came in way under some competitors which was a big surprise.

On who's systems?

Hiscox Direct can have reasonable prices but rarely are they the cheapest as they tend to have the highest levels of cover.

You could look at the aggregators like confused.com but in reality all (or it certainly was the case a couple of years ago) are not actually aggregating but simply exposing the full panel results from a single broker and Simply Business is the most common broker behind them.

Other than that it really is a bit of pot luck and how much time you want to spend calling around etc to try and save a few quid

I know, it shocked me when they came in at under half of the next quote. I even phoned them to get them to confirm it, I thought it must be an error!! Absolutely no idea why...but not complaining ;-)

They're arguably the best Insurer in the UK, certainly are for commercial.

I've had a scheme with Hiscox for a specific profession, there are certain trades / professions who they've had good returns from so they actively target them

I use HISCOX for home, PID and P&L. Not for any reason bar I had it for home as they tend to insure the higher valued homes. I just ended up taking their discount as an existing customer for my business insurance. However, if you know of someone else who provides an equally good policy at a lower cost than the expensive HISCOX's, I am willing to be all ears.
