CPM UK Car Park Management

Hello,

I parked behind some shops today to go grab a bite to eat. I had parked there before for countless years with no problem had never ever seen a ticket given out before. I came back to my car today and found a ticket on my car. The ticket was from CPM and had pay 60 pounds in the first 14 days or 100 after. Also says about debt collectors and legal department and if not payed additional fees can be added if not payed within 28 days.

I was told photographic evidence can be viewed on the paymyticket.co.uk website which I then checked to see pictures of my car.

To be fair the pictures do show the private property sign and fees part in the carpark but I have never had a problem with the car park before.

I spoke to my friends dad who said he gets them all the time and never bothers with them. I was a bit skeptical as I thought surely people have to pay.

I am a little bit worried about it tbh 60 pounds for 20 mins parking that I have never had a problem with before.

I tried looking for a number to call but only got a payment line, I also looked and it says they don't deal with enquiries over the phone.

What shall I do?
.

  • ignore them for now and unless there is close up photographic evidence of the dash board which clearly shows no pay and display ticket... that's the end of that
  • There's is a close up picture what does that mean? Though
  • There's no ticket machines there anyway. It's private land that everyone parks on but now they issues tickets you can't pay or display at All

You do this (linked below) just like you will see on every thread when you read about this scam, as you must. Unless this was in Scotland then your friend's dad is about a year out of date with his advice, but he's right that you DO NOT have to pay a scammer. And you CERTAINLY don't go phoning the scumbags up and taking it so seriously, this isn't a real fine! Here's what to do:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/62827554#Comment_62827554

You only need to search the single keyword 'CPM' or 'appeal' or POPLA' into 'search this forum' (using the heading of that name, on the right above the forum threads on page one of the parking board) and change the default search to 'show posts'.

Happy reading - and let us know if you have any queries about what to do after that Notice to Keeper arrives in the post (the one that you do respond to if you are in England/Wales). Do not just decide you know how to appeal and send off a normal appeal when it gets to POPLA stage. There is a knack to winning, as you will read.

You really do need to read other threads for guidance, there is no 'quick fix' but it shouldn't take long to learn about what to write and when, and about POPLA appeal wording, now you know about the search facility. If you find threads over 3 or 4 months old then don't read those (advice could be old, like your friend's dad's well-meaning but outdated ideas). The advice is best on newer threads, talking about appealing and beating ANY private parking ticket from ANY AOS member firm like CPM

Do not ignore it. Do not pay it. Do not respond yet. Just read other threads, start on page one and read any, then search a few terms, follow links. You'll soon be up to speed and can tell your friend's Dad that there is now an appeals procedure as the law changed in 2012 (a bit) and the advice is different now.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • I have finally received the notice to keeper and it states how much I owe some pictures of my car. Some thing about freedoms act 2012 schedule 4 and a appeals box on the other side asking who was driving the car
  • What do I do now?

Did you have it within 56 days of parking ?

Forgive me but I thought my advice above your post, and this link was clear:

Re-read the advice already given to you and send off an appeal, not inferring who was driving AT ALL. The Notice can't have been served within 56 days of the windscreen ticket surely?
