Leaving Scottish Power gas/electricity early

I mistakenly left Scottish Power just before my gas/electricity deal was about to come to an end and I have now been charged £50 cancellation fee.
Now I know it was my fault for not checking the small print carefully but is there any chance SP will reconsider their decision as I only had 2 weeks to run? I had started looking for a new deal/supplier in advance of my deal running out and I did find something and switched.
