Car insurance with tow-bar
Comments
-
We have always had tow-bars on our cars and never even thought it would come under a modification. It will be interesting to see the views of others.
You should tell them, however its unlikely to put your price up. They want to know because it tells them that you tow stuff. Also, if you were rear-ended, the damage can be more severe to you and the car, as the tow bar will likely take a lot of the impact and transfer it straight to the chassis - bypassing the bumper.0 -
They want to know because it tells them that you tow stuff. .
Why are they interested in that, yet don't care what mileage you do towing, or what you tow?
Or whether in fact you don't tow at all, but carry bikes on the back? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Same issue here. Fitted a towbar, former insurance upped the premium to £230 from £180. Shopping around comparison sites, both declaring and not declaring the bar produced a minimum premium hike of £70 !
As I am a member of the Caravan Club, I asked them to quote through their insurance dept, result, change from £150 !Started my job at the bottom and liked it0
