Good to see we now have five people who have signed this petition.

At this rate, of three signatures a day, it will take around one hundred years to reach the required 100,000 petitioners.

Keep up the good work lads. :D

I'm not sure what good you think a petition would do anyway? Even if it were to be debated in Parliament.

Can some of those who seem to be opposed to the idea of a National Railcard explain to me why it should only be people in London and the South-East (the most affluent part of the country) that are entitled to discounted rail travel, while the rest of us have to pay full whack?

becasue the companies in the SE have decided its a sound business decision. I suspect the others have decided it isn't - possibly due to the lower population density/longer journies?

The Network Railcard was around before the railways got broken up (introduced in 1986).

The £13 min fare weekdays is a downside which limits the usage somewhat

I'd argue that the cost per mile for travel is far higher in London and SE.

For instance a day return to London for me is £31 + £8 parking (I live 35 miles from London). I've got a new car to pick up next month from Ardrossan and my APEX single ticket of Maidstone - London Victoria - Tube - Euston - Glasgow - Ardrossan is £23!:money:
So the London and SE part of that journey is around £5. You could also use that to argue that the cost per mile is far lower.
