House builders that buy your property

I heard about this a while ago. House builders that buy your house so that you can buy one of their new builds. Does anyone know of any that do this.
I can imagine that they rip you off for the pleasure though.

Lovely pic of Mr Depp there!
Most of the big builders certainly used to do this, I am going back a few years, but though they didn't offer top dollar, for the convenience it seemed well worth it, and wasn't derisory. Read some of the threads about selling, then decide if it's worth it!!! Try the websites for Barretts etc, they should let you know if they're offering anything in your area.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
We asked about this on a new build and were actively discouraged, being told it wasn't done often, and we wouldn't get all the free carpets, kitchen stuff etc. Expect to hear more of these schemes if prices crash.
    Been away for a while.

I've just exchanged contracts on a part exchange scheme with Bryant Homes. We were offered 185K for ours just after Easter when similar propertis were up for 195K. Now 7 weeks later we've exchanged but the house is up for 193K with no buyer on the horizon because they all seem to be put off by the October completion date. Advantages are that you don't have to impress every viewer and you don't have to live your life around viewings, then desperately waiting for the EA to come back to you with any news.

You don't get curtains/carpets etc but I'm much happier with an agreed sale with a proce that I could live with and I get away from all of the scum who live around me.

Thanks for your reply. Was this fairly easy to do and how long will it be before you can move in?
The reason I am interested is that I am thinking of moving some distance away and I figured this would save a lot of time.

Bovis Homes have offered to part exchange my house - but I've got a house sale before they managed - and gained more, even after EA commission, than I would have received from Bovis!!!!

My asking price was £159,950, and I achieved this (after 5 weeks being on the market) and Bovis were prepared to give me £156,500 ('apparently' a 4-6 week selling price) and I am also getting a £17k discount on a £245k newbuild (plus £500 legal fees and stamp duty paid!). So go for as much as you can get from a new housebuilder - they always put their prices way above what they are prepared to accept!

I suppose it was easy compared to having a chain. They originally wanted to exchange within 4 weeks but with the number of inane questions that their solicitors kept asking that was never going to happen. The house won't be ready until end Oct but that gives me plenty of time to clear out all of my rubbish so that it doesn't move with me!!

I did get £500 towards the legal fees but because every single house has sold off plan the builders didn't have to give too many discounts.
