Living overseas, ? Most suitable account.

Hi there, would be most grateful if someone might advise me on the best and most suited bank account for myself.... I live in Australia, but come from Scotland, I'm currently home on holiday and wish to find a bank account that you can transfer money easily online to my Aussie account, I have been with the clydesdale bank since a child, I have only one direct debit still each month here and have a couple of thousand pounds in my account, when it ones to international matters, clydesdale have been unsatisfactory. I have been researching and so far I'm considering either natwest or nationwide, they do have branches in aberdeen, as I know that not many of the other banks do except the usual big Scottish banks.
Thank you in advance.

For international money transfers, use a currency broker or face high fees.

You will not be able to open a new bank account in the UK since you are not a resident. Most of the main banks have international branches offering accounts for expatriates, but these have high fees and lack FSCS protection.

You can open a bank account based in the Channel Islands. Royal Bank of Scotland has a branch there.

If you open a HSBC account both here and in Australia the fees to transfer money to your Australian HSBC account are free.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
