No where to connect earth wire on IKEA Alang ceiling light

I'm trying to put up an Ikea Alang ceiling lamp ( which has a plastic flush fitting) and there is a little plastic junction box thingy labelled L and N with brown and blue wires respectively. So I can connect the red and black from the house wiring to these but there is nowhere in the new fitting to connect the greenand yellow striped earth wire that's coming from the ceiling.
My FiL ( retired sparky) says to bind it off with tape and tuck it away - is this correct?
