Problems with switch
I have still heard nothing from EDF and despite contacting the club email on several occasions I've had no information or support apart from being told it was submitted on 21st June to EDF. I've contacted EDF (including via their complaints department) and they have no record of me.
Any suggestions? My emails to the club are now being ignored. I've been promised a response to investigations twice and heard nothing back.
I'm now paying standard rates so am fast loosing the savings I would make.
Hope someone can help!
Thanks

If EDF deny any knowledge of you and your existing supplier hasn't been informed (by someone other than you) that you are leaving, then it sounds like the transfer request never went through.
Maybe somebody involved with the Cheap Energy Club will pop up here and offer help. If not, you may have to start looking at transferring to a better deal all over again unfortunately.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I'm sure that's what I need to do. Unfortunately I can't use the Club as they still have an active transfer so I'm stuck
Hopefully someone from the Club will take a look and give me some assistance.0 -
I used the Cheap Energy Club to arrange a switch on 21st June 2013 to EDF. Having used other sites in the past I expected to hear from EDF within a few days and the transfer to take place on/around the beginning of August when my existing fixed contract expired.

ThanksHow long does it take to switch energy supplier?
Switching can take up eight weeks to take place. But don't worry, you won't lose your supply during this time. It should be a seamless handover from one provider to the other. All that's really changing is the billing, not the actual gas and electricity that you're being supplied.
...
I've called the supplier and it knows nothing about the switch?
This doesn't mean your switch isn't in progress. We're finding more and more that suppliers' call centres don't have up-to-date information about switches (or they say they don't).
So if you've called the new supplier and it doesn't know about the switch, don't worry about it. Wait a few days, and you should receive confirmation of the switch in the post. Don't switch over the phone directly with the supplier - if you do, you'll miss out on any cashback you were eligible for.0 -
Unfortunately I've been waiting over 8 weeks and still none of the energy companies know about the switch.:(
I've emailed the club a final time to see if they'll give a response. If not I'll have to look elsewhere.
It's a shame because I had hoped for a better service using MSE but they have failed to deliver.0 -

Why do you need to look elsewhere? You've done the looking and found the best supplier & tariff for you - anything else by definition will not be the best.
You are moaning about already paying standard rates with your current supplier, (since 1st August according to this earlier post of yours)
You also say you have spoke to EDF. I'm surprised they didn't offer to switch you when you called - a sales opporuntity missed by them.
But what really surprises me is you haven't asked them directly to switch you by now.0 -

Unfortunately the tariff I signed up to in June is no longer offered. The market is constantly changing which is one of the reasons I joined the club. They have failed to process the application and don't respond to emails so I am stuck.
I had hoped someone would be able to give some helpful advice about how to contact the Club when things go wrong. It appears that I was misguided in the support I might receive here.
I have now started the switch process via an alternative route. Unfortunately I cannot recommend MSE as a switching route as the switch didn't happen.
Sorry to have troubled you.0 -
I have now had a reply from EDF to my original complain. They advise the Money Supermarket (who the Cheap Energy Club really are) experienced a system error on 21st June resulting in contracts agreed on that date not being processed.
Still I have not had this information from the club.0 -
Thanks for this post, I signed up for a switch through the energy club on 21/8/13 as my current provider deal runs out 1/9/13, not heard a thing from new supplier at all & have sent email to club but no response & wondered if any one else had problems. Current supplier has not heard from new supplier & thought no point contacting new supplier as club says might not have record anyway but after reading your posts have gone direct to a new supplier (through cashback site earning £46). Not risking the switch not happening, I know from previous switches the new supplier gets in touch pretty quick to let you know they are arranging everything.
Hope you got everything sorted0 -
It does appear that the Cheap Energy Club have let a few people down, where a simple acknowledgement of the situation could have sorted it out.
As with post #9, I have always been made aware of progress with the receiving supplier when I have switched.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I signed up for Cheap energy club and selected to switch. The switch from Scottish Power to EDF has been done in June BUT the Cheap Energy club says my switch is still in progress and I am still with Scottish Power. Why isn't the system updating correctly. The CEC seemed like a good idea but not if it is working on out of date tariff information.0
