  • Aldi's fairtrade instant is £1.99 for 100g jar and I have that for work, for ground coffee we like this http://www.costco.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/cos_11,cos_11.11,cos_11.11.3/31040 it's minimum purchase two, but these store well and one tin lasts absolutely ages.

Well, I'm not a coffee gourmet, but I find that Aldi Gold Roast (or whatever it's called) is fine by me - on a par with Nescafe Gold anyway, and a fraction of the price. I also buy their decaff, which again tastes ok to me too. My OH is a Kenco Smooth Roast primadonna, so buys that when it's on special offer - luckily for him, at the moment, it always seems to be on special offer somewhere!

I buy Lavazza ground coffee, not so easy on the budget but it is gorgeous!

There is one my mil buys me from Home Bargains, it's 'something' Italian, it's a white/silver packet with red writing or the other one had green writing. £1 a pack, the red one has a lovely almost chocolatey flavour to it x
Can't think of anything smart to put here...

Home Bargains currently have 6 cup cafetierres at £3.99 and are selling small packs (125g) of Douwe Egberts coffee in different 'strengths/roasts' for 99p. Useful if you just want to sample them. :)

While I do prefer ground coffee, it just doesn't like me and gives me an awful upset stomach.

I like an instant with a bit of guts, my prime choices are Dow Egberts really Rich, Kenco really rich, Necafe gold Black and at a push Carte Noir.

I flit between those, buying whichever one is on offer. I managed to find the large 200g Kenco in Poundstretchers last week for £3.99, happy days, it's £6-£7 elsewhere atm.

We've always liked Necafe Blend 37 for instant coffee and I buy it from Amazon in a 500g tin for £14.99 delivered free.
    As it's £3.48 for 100g in Asda, I think that's a reasonable bargain.
  • I agree on Aldi's Specially Selected Columbian as per bubble16, am quite fussy as I like rich coffee and is the only cheaper instant I like! Managed to switch from my favourite branded douwe egberts one to it as was getting too expensive!

Hi - both Lidl and Aldi have a lovely 'Gold' coffee which is very economically priced but still has great flavour!

Another vote for aldi ground and a cheap cafetiere of stove top espresso pot. I bought beans from aldi at christmas and they were lovely but obviously will need a grinder. I reckon it works out about the same price as instant and is ten times as good

  • We drink a lot of coffee here. Tried all the instants at some time or other, and still unanimous that CO-OP own brand fair trade rich roast is the nicest & best value for price - large (200g) jar £2.29.
