Communal areas electricity

Slightly strange post but I am a landlord of a flat and had the tenants ring saying the power to the sockets had gone off.
Went round to check and to cut a long story short tested the sockets in the communal area as well to see if it was a problem with our flat or the whole floor. The sockets were off so assumed it was a whole floor thing.
Then noticed one of the fuses had tripped but it sits in a tripped position and not the off position so reset the fuse and all sockets were back to normal including those in the communal areas.
So I know i'm only dealing with a few pounds here and there but we pay as part of the service charge for heating / lighting / electric for communal areas and also the cleaners use the sockets etc. I think we're getting taken for a ride but like I said its only a small amount.
Any advice?

You are less than clear here - are you saying that one of the circuit breakers on your tenant's consumer unit has been shown to be supplying communal electricity? You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0

Yes.
Basically -
Fuse tripped - All sockets off in the flat = sockets off in communal area.
Fuse back on - All sockets in flat on = sockets in communal area on.0 -
That would be getting cut off straight away if I was the owner!0

Remove the sockets and put a blanking plate over them. Electrician could do this quickly and simply.0
-
Remove sockets that are in the communal areas???
Pretty sure the freeholder and management company might have something to say about that.0 -
have you checked that the lighting in the communal area is not also coming off your flat's meter? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

You either get an electrician to disconnect the sockets or carry on making your tenants pay for the communal supply.0

You can employ an electrician to disconnect the sockets from your power supply, this is safe as it is just condemning the sockets, if you want to before this action you could give x amount of notice to the freeholder/management company to source their own electricity. You could also request to have the heating/lighting/electricity portion of your service charge refunded.
Do you have a tenants association?0 -
You alone (or rather your tenants) are paying for all the power in the communal areas
Who is the freeholder/ managing agent?
How long has this been going on?0
