Insurance advice re NCD

Hello
I have just registered an accident with my son's insurers which was my fault as a named driver. I am hoping that this will be dealt with without actually making a claim and the other people say it is ok for me to pay for it if I want to. So what I would like to know is if I do this and don't actually go through the insurance will it still affect his NCD as it has been registered. It is his first year of driving so is keen to get one year NCD when he next insures. Hope this makes sense.

If no claim is paid by the insurer and no cost incurred by the insurer then the NCD is not affected.

Bear in mind that you will be responsible for all costs incurred (not just the repair bill), eg car hire whilst the car is in for repair/loss of earnings/taxi fares etc, and always the chance of a whiplash claim coming in!

(The incident will have to be declared under your history to any new insurers he goes to in the future for insurance - history is usually required for 3/5 years).
