What a pain ???
Mrs gets ESA and DLA
Moving today from 1 rented to another.(higher rent!) Like good citizens we wrote and told them last week and response is a book! to fill in for change of address and with it comes suspension of payments until the form gets back.
What a pain? Is it any wonder people sidetrack things initially.
Just a moan and warning to others what is going to happen if you are in my position. I'm off to load the van - if you have an hour spare pop around - I'm in Cornwall :rotfl:

If you want the govt to give you money, it seems only fair that you complete the paperwork. I know the booklet is pretty thick, but there is not a great deal in it, mainly tick boxes.0

I think the issue is that they suspend payments to prevent OVERpayments.
Moving home can potentially affect the amount of benefit owed.
Its better for them to suspend payments and backpay owed money apposed to carry on paying and then saying "give us it back".
Usually you can do a change of circumstances over the phone which prevents most suspensions on straightforward CoC's on claimsYou can't beat an egg.........................NO WAIT!0 -
ESA and DLA claims aren't affected by a change of address and no form filling is needed. Which benefit is the form for as I can only think that the claim was due for re-assesement anyway.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Reporting a change of address by letter for ESA will always result in a suspension and an ESA3 being sent out.
If you phoned them up and ask them to call you straight back because you don't want to pay for the phonecall. You can do the change of address over the phone and as long as there are no other changes -apart from adress-, you will see almost a seemless transfer and will most likely be paid on time.
Takes about 20 mins to do it over the phone. But because your claim is now suspended ....after doing it by phone it will take upto 24 hours to get the suspension lifted.0 -

Why would a change of address mean an automatic need to review your payments?Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

Reporting it by letter, means you have not been cross examined by DWP so they are unaware if there are other changes that will affect payment so = automatic suspension.Torry_Quine wrote: »Why would a change of address mean an automatic need to review your payments?
Reporting it by phone you will be cross examined and therefore maybe no need for suspension, but if there are other changes then it will be suspended even though it was done by phone, then an ESA3 will be needed.0
