Hello,

I've been on long term incapacty benefit but after attending the medical assesstment I've been told I wont be eligible for it anymore. My IB ceased on the 8th August. I would normally get it this Thursday.

Do i have another payment to get ?

Was your assessment for ESA and are you going to appeal the decision?

Everyone on IB is transferring to ESA so you must have gone for a reassessment have you been sent a letter saying you did not reach the required points level for ESA ?
You can appeal that decision (time limit) all that info would have been in the letter sent to you after your medical.

Alternatively, if you feel you might be fit for some work you can apply for JSA. You can also ask to see a Disability Employment Advisor who can offer more specialised support in your job search.

Thank you for the replies.I know of the options etc,but I need to know if I will get another IB payment ?

If it's paid in arrears then yes, I should imagine so. Why not call them to ask?

i'm hoping my last payment on the 8th covered 25th july-8th august so I would get money but I'm not sure if IB is paid in arrears.....

To give full details...

I attended the medical assessment in July and got a letter weeks later telling me I only got 8 points which was not enough to stay on the benefit.The letter said I will be paid upto and including the 9th August.I received me £224 on the 8th August as this is my usual pay day.

Will I get money tomorrow which would have been my next payday ?

Looks like you will get 1 days IB
Have you appealed ???
Make sure you ask for a reassessment give the reasons why you think it's wrong (unless you agree and are looking for work)
If you can get medical notes from your GP you can be put on assessment rate of ESA (£71.70 a week) until the DWP reconsider or your appeal goes to tribunal.

You will only be paid the ESA assessment rate if your formally appeal, not if you just ask for a reconsideration. Another Decision Maker will look at the claim again anyway, before it is sent to the Tribunal service.

Going on what you have said you would get 1 day of IB paid to you on or about the 9th August. However I believe you or the letter are in error, I believe the letter says your IB will cease on the 9th August and you will recieve your final payment on 8th August....and therefore there will be no further payments.


As others have said (and you have said you are aware) you can appeal on GL24 with sicknotes from your doctor and you will be paid on ESA appeal.

Or you might be able to claim JSA depending on your marital status etc.
