CCJ from 5 years ago - Looking for advice

Hello to all MSE users.

To cut a very long story short I was given a CCJ by a big national trade supplier (Big corporate company v Sole trader) all because someone walked into a branch of "XXX" company and put £900 worth of goods onto my trade account and walked out. I then received an invoice and instantly flagged it up... some 3-4 months later I was the proud owner of a CCJ. This was in April/May 2008. After I received a letter from the courts or where ever it was, I had to pay the money in full. Which I did. I have a letter of satisfaction dated July 2008 from the company involved.

None of the above has really bothered me as I have my trade accounts elsewhere and existing credit cards, mortgage etc. So I never thought anything of it. But I have recently applied for a trade account with a company and it was declined. This was because of the CCJ from 2008 which apparently is still marked as "Unpaid" or something like that.

So here is my question/questions:

1)
How do I find out when the CCJ was awarded? "I don't have the paperwork" as this may have been paid within 28 days (I have read this on here) so it should never have been on my record???

2) I have found out that "for a fee" I can have this marked as settled or paid. If I get this settled "ASAP" do I still have yet another 6 years of this on my record? (5 years gone already) or will it be backdated to July 2008 when it was actually settled? so it will only be on for one more year...?

Sorry for the ramblings, but I have no idea of this type of stuff, and I am so annoyed at company "XXX" for doing this to me.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Cheers,
66

    1) The date will be on your credit file, the registry trust online, or just ask the court. The law says you have one calendar month to pay if you want to be able to cancel the CCJ registration.

    2) The CCJ will be removed from your credit record 6 years from the initial judgement date, if settled after the one month. Settlement should be backdated AFAIK, but it doesn't effect when the CCJ comes off anyway.
