  • Hi I have just started on the debt free road (trying - anyway), and have been avidly reading all posts. I was just wondering about the surveys that you all do ad if anyone can put me in the right directions. Cheers
  • Hi GMLS, good to hear from you. If you search on this site you'll find a list of good survey sites to use, that's how I originally got into doing them. The ones I do are as follows: Toluna, Just the Answer, One Poll, Valued Opinions, Rewarded Opinions and Global Test Market. I've only just started on Ipsos and Nectar Canvass as well. I really recommend getting a Nectar card if you don't have one already as then you can register for Nectar Canvass (which is surveys) and Nectar Adpoints which is basically watching clips of adverts and rating them. It all adds up to not bad points if you do them regularly.I am definitely a survey convert as I have made so much out of them - we pay for Christmases and birthdays with them by taking Amazon vouchers for the rewards (except on One Poll which pays into your bank account and Rewarded Opinions which sends you a cheque). Best of luck with them, let us know how you get on :)

Thank you for the support Chrysalis, I'm feeling ok now, well except the usual Monday morning lethargy of really not wanting to get out of bed :)

  • I made another payment this morning to a doorstep loan, it will be so good to get rid of that one and there's not long to go now. I am working in the house today as I have a hideous work call later on that I thought I would rather do from here so nobody in the office can see me pacing up and down like a lunatic getting ready for it :( But it has also given me the opportunity to quickly pop on to check my Nectar balance etc and see if any of my survey codes have been paid out - they haven't but I am expecting a ton in the next few days so that will give me a wee boost :)

I updated my signature after paying another couple of things - who would believe you could be so happy about having 90.8K of debts hehe. It's a horrifying figure but it's showing progress from where I started from so I have to be happy about that.

I received more horrible payday loan communications this morning and over the weekend. I am doing my best to stay positive about the chances of reaching agreement but at times I do have a wobble and worry a lot about what I'm doing here, never mind, I will 'man up' and get on with it.

The weekend wasn't a total no spend zone as hoped for - in my massive food shop I forgot tea bags so spent 27p on some Tesco value ones, it's akin to an international incident to run out of tea in this house so the 27p had to be sacrificed so that order could be restored :rotfl:

  • Well I'm delighted that Monday is over with, the rest of the week should be significantly quieter. There's not much to report as regards debt busting but my OH did sell stuff on eBay last night and he has bids on other items closing today. So I will be spending money on postage today but the buyers paid for it so it's not really coming out of my pocket :) I'm very chuffed with him, every little bit counts as they say. The items with bids already on them have lots of watchers so I'm hoping for a wee bidding war later on as it gets nearer to closing time, fingers crossed anyway.

  • Yesterday started off as a pretty bad day but fortunately ended up a little better. Out of my 3 payday loans, the situation is the following:

    1. One is now at a point where they are willing to listen to proposals for a payment plan :T
    2. One is still adding daily interest but showing some interest in a plan :T
    3. One has refused to entertain any type of plan, it's either the full amount or nothing. :(

So they told me they would refer me to a debt collection agency. I thought maybe I could see a positive in this as maybe I could work out a plan with the agency. Then they told me who it was. They are the people threatening to take me to court for non-payment of a debt for over a year when I have infact been paying it religiously for over 3 years, they just want their money quicker than I am paying. My heart sank when I saw that. I already get threatening text messages, phone calls and emails round the clock from this lot and that's for a debt I am actually paying! God only knows how this is going to go. I was v down about it yesterday. But in the evening I got a couple of emails through containing £45 of voucher codes for my Christmas target so that cheered me up a bit, it wasn't an entirely bad day. I am expecting an even bigger payment of vouchers in the next few days so that is something to look forward to.

So I've had my day of feeling down and moping around, I am going to try to be more positive today. I got myself into this situation so I am going to have to work through it until it's sorted :)

  • Hope your feeling better today Merlot1975, these debt collection companies can be right pains in the a$$es when they want to. Good news on the vouchers though so that's a positive and a big help towards Christmas. I have started buying odds and ends but really need to get planning or its going to expensive last minute stuff which I really want to avoid.

At least it's the weekend, enjoy some you time x

  • Thanks Desperate, I relaxed a wee bit over the weekend. I also did my fair share of moping around but I am feeling better now. I dusted myself off and threw myself into eBaying and made £53 profit after paying all my postage costs so that cheered me up immensely. Then last night I got £75 of vouchers through for my Christmas pot from surveys. That was a special project I had to do which resulted from a survey. It took a lot of time but I was delighted when I got the codes through last night, made all the effort seem worthwhile. My OH said he was really proud of me for plugging away with the surveys etc so that put a smile on my face :) Today 2 boxes of cereal for the adorable child to test arrived so I'm happy about that too. So I guess I will keep going, one day I am going to be debt free and really happy I dealt with it, even though some days are particularly trying :)
