  • Hi Merlot, another good day for you. Well done on the vouchers, I wish I had your determination. A NSD for me also and another tea from the freezer :)

I had a super quiet day yesterday with nothing much to report. More credit card calls, I am going to tape a message of me saying what I need to say to them and just hit play every time they call, it might make life a bit easier :)

There's nothing much doing on the survey front, did a couple yesterday though. This is one of those weeks though when I'm waiting for codes to be paid out so I am just plugging away without the excitement of seeing my balance increase.

Another NSD yesterday and today. Thankfully located a packet of turkey mince in the freezer so we're having home made turkey burgers for dinner, which I am actually really looking forward to.

OH is paid tomorrow, thank god! I would be feeling very virtuous and happy about the amount of NSDs I have racked up this week if I was actually exercising willpower and choosing not to spend. Enforced NSDs are a bit different. Don't get me wrong, I am proud we managed it and we've got to the end of another month with food in the house, bills paid and (a cupful of) petrol in the car but it will be good to see money in the account, no matter how fleetingly it stays there :)

There's been absolutely no debt busting going on here since I have had a horrible tummy bug and have had no inclination to do anything except for feel sorry for myself :(

I'm feeling a bit better now and think the worst is over with so I've managed to do some bits and pieces round the house today. Also (since OH has been paid) caught up on the gas payments, topped up the electric, and filled the car with petrol (I have been putting in small amounts at a time which I think costs me more since I am constantly going into the reserve tank so I am trying this instead this month). But I'm genuinely shattered with just those wee bits and pieces so I think I will resume my position of lounging about, maybe do a couple surveys if I feel like it. I was chuffed on Friday morning as I got a wee freebie in the post, under eye concealer. This will come in handy tomorrow as I look like a zombie at the moment haha, I will definitely be able to use it enough to feed back my findings on it :rotfl:

Roll on my payday later on in the week so I can get on with some debt busting :)

  • Hi Merlot, glad your feeling a bit better. This debt-busting is hard isn't it, my motivation is going up and down. I'm all for debt-busting when I'm skint :)

    Thank god for pay days.

Hello, thanks, I ended up back in my bed early yesterday :( Debt busting certainly is hard. There are so many days in the month when nothing can be done as you are waiting to be paid or whatever so you don't get the satisfaction of seeing your debts go down and you're skint. Never mind, both of us will get there, I'm sure of it!

I've just claimed another £15 of vouchers (these ones take ages to come through tho so it will be a while before I actually get the codes) so I feel that I have taken another positive step towards Christmas and my target. Also planning an NSD (despite there being money in the account) because the car has petrol, we have food and the gas and electric are fine so no need to spend today at all.

Am now going to apply my freebie concealer as I look dreadful! My OH is too lovely and tactful to say so but he did tentatively ask me if I was sure I was feeling ok to go out, I'll take that as hint that makeup should be applied before I am seen in public :rotfl:

Another quiet day for me today as I await payday :) I am hopefully going to do some more adpoints to get to the weekly total you're allowed and I've done 4 surveys this morning already, yay! It was going to be an NSD but then I remembered I need to post a birthday card to a friend. I couldn't find any appropriate in my stash in the house but at least I don't need to buy a stamp as I have a load of them in my purse already.

I cleared out the coppers and 5ps from my purse this morning and re-started the jar in the kitchen (previously cleaned out to pay for shopping!). It's a small start but it's something.

The credit card appear to have chucked calling me (tho I shouldn't speak too soon I suppose) but I'm no further forward on the payday loans. It is worrying me but I suppose I can only do what I am doing which is continue to contact them in the hopes of reaching agreement.

So a quiet day for me, although I daresay I will be obliged to fit in some work at some point, people expect you to work for your salary unfortunately ;)

Payday has been and gone and my account has that familiar look of a million different entries going out with one solitary payment in :). So far I've paid the credit card, paid the car (now sitting at approx £800 left woohoo), paid back family loans - the next batch of payments come off next week. I've had the enormously satisfying task of updating my spreadsheet and seeing the numbers coming down.I'm sitting at 91.4K at the mo with some of the biggies to be paid next week. My highest point ever for debt was 93K, and I started this diary at 92K, so at least I am travelling in the correct direction. Also, the real figure must be less than 91.4K as I only update the ones covered by my DMP when I get a statement in from the creditors and that happens with alarming irregularity. I could just guess and update with what I know I pay roughly per month but I prefer to wait and enter the correct amount. So there should be a time when my total debt jumps quite a bit in one month as I will have received a few statements in. I got one in last night and was pleased to update it, so hopefully a few more will trickle in over the next few weeks.

Other than that things are pretty quiet. My credit card has finally chucked in calling me, woohoo! The payday loans continue to threaten doorstep collections, litigation and all sorts of worrying dire consequences yet continue to act as if I have never been in touch, I will just need to keep plugging away at that one.

On payday i did a massive foodshop which should last the 3 of us 2 weeks for £45. I was really really chuffed with that. I made good use of the reduced section and got some really great meat at rock bottom prices which will (as I batch cook and then freeze portions) stretch to a lot of meals. I'm polishing my thrifty halo as we speak haha :A

So I am off now to play with the adorable child, who has not been exhibiting many adorable characteristics so far today with an early morning wake up call for me well before 7am! We're going for a no spend weekend as we have everything we need and it's horrible weather so a weekend in playing with toys and watching films is in order I think :)

  • Sounds like a good weekend to me. I'm only venturing out to the shop to buy a few necessities. I have 13 days until payday and the post payday/pre payday depression has kicked in.

Have a good weekend and hope the purse stays closed.

Thanks Desperate, I hope you have a good weekend too. I am familiar with that mid-month feeling so you hope you still manage to have a good weekend :)
