Car dealer sells complimentary product.

Hi. Just want to ask f car dealer can sell product that is marked as "complimentary"? Thought complimentary products meant to be free.
Bought Toyota in 2011. They have put supaguard car cleaning product on top of the price for £300. In fact it is no more than £20. On box says "complimentary". I am giving my Toyota back prior hire agreement finishes and thinking if to ask for money back also I have it unopened still.
Anyone knows if its worth fighting? ??
Thanks
L.

Are you sure it was just the box of cleaning products though? As I recall it was a treatment on the fabrics, and the cleaning stuff was just some extra bits to keep it looking nice.

I think agrinnall meant the £300 covered the treatment of the fabrics and that the 'complimentary' box of cleaning products was just that.

No. There was no physical treatment given. Car was brand new when handed over

Yes but dealer frequently offer paint and fabric 'protection' products which are applied to new cas and the kit you have is a complimentary additional pack if needed.

You're seeing something on an invoice and assuming it applies to the box of products...not necessarily true.

You can't see the paint and interior fabric protection product as it is clear!

The complimentary box is a free box of stuff to top up the protection should you need it.

This is what you should be given free of charge when Superguard has been applied to your car.
£300 is about the going rate for the full car treatment to be applied, although you could do the same job yourself for a fraction of this.

You bought the car 2-3 years ago and want a refund on something from the purchase date?

If it was bothering you why didn't you ask at the time and then they would have explained it to you as per what the others have suggested above.
