Gamescom opens to the public in Germany on Thursday.
Have you forked out to go to an event like this or do you think it's a waste of time and money?
Are you even such a die-hard gamer you're going to Gamescom and in Cologne already?!
If you're going please do keep everyone updated on the latest developments here on the gaming board

Could you do with a Money Makeover?

I would LOVE to go to Gamescom and am considering going next year if finances allow.
Have been to playexpo and had a fantastic time. Infact I think it was extremely good value for money to be able to pay £20 odd for a weekend ticket and then spend two full days playing the games and consoles from my childhood, masses of pinball, and have access to yet-to-be-released games (all for no extra cost).
Would be going to Insomnia in telford this weekend had I found out about it before yesterday :mad:0 -
Was going to go to it in 2011, after attending Euro Gamer in London in 2010. Euro Gamer was awesome but living in Scotland it was an expensive trip for a trivial thing.
Would like to go again but perhaps just for the day rather than the weekend. All your base are belong to us.0 -
I've been uhming and ahing over going to Insomnia gaming festival in Telford but I would love to go to others too! Ohhhhh I'd kinda forgot about it all but now you guys have reminded me!0

I would go to a games convention in a heartbeat, but a lot of that has to do with the legacy of a 7 year career (and certainly not ruling out a return to it) in games retail. More to see what's incoming and "plan" the future out in terms of purchases and what's going to be big than to play any of it (although that's a bonus!), I guess it's just cos I'm nosey when it comes to gaming!Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0

I am posting this from my hotel in Cologne.... so yes I'd go :P. This is my third year.
It's been great fun in the past, with loads of stuff going on on the scale you don't get in the UK conventions. The tickets (20 euros for a season pass I think) include free public transport on Cologne's super efficient underground rail network that makes navigation a breeze. It's a great city anyway (that Kolsch beer!) and is just a wonderful experience.
I'd totally recommend going with some friends for essentially a long weekend. Well worth it.0 -
I used to go to to the show in London at Earls Court all those years ago. I would love to go to E3 sadly my work commitments have never given me the time I need to go to LA.
So yes, I think I would go to these shows if I had the chance.0 -
I'm going to Eurogamer Expo this year. It's a pretty new experience for me but after watching E3 each year If I get a slice of that experience then its worth it. Also sounds silly but I went to the Baby Show with the wife 2 years ago and the amount of freebies we got was amazing!! Imagine if I get that amount on something I like!! lolDaddy to Baby Jessie Pops, Caitlyn and Aimee and husband to Krystaltips...:T Xbox tag - Meks666... Vist my blog thefantasticmrmeks.wordpress.com0
