Refund on theatre tickets????

My sister in law is a really big Marcus Collins fan so as a bit of a cheer-me-up after an operation I splashed out to buy two tickets for Hairspray at the Bristol Hippodrome. He was playing one of the leads.
We looked online and saw he had Gastro Enteritis and would not be appearing, disappointed we still went.
The following day we saw on Twitter that Mr Marcus Collins was not ill but living the high life in London.
I just wondered where I stand with asking for a refund as the star was not ill as advertised?
I look forward to hearing your replies

For these sort of things you're paying for the performance not the performers. Therefore as the show went on I don't think you have a claim for a refund.
Still it's very annoying0 -
He was recently ill and apparently was told to take time out from performing which appears to have helped. There's never a guarantee you'll see a particular performer in any Show,0

As has been said you can't get a refund for an understudy

There's nothing to stop you asking for a refund (or discounted tickets for a future performance;))
but they can say no.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

I wouldn't rely on Twitter rumours for giving you correct information.
According to various reports on Twitter It wasn't too long ago that Gorbachev had died, (totally false), Katherine Jenkins was having an affair with David Beckham (probably false) and various Twitter death reports have been posted about Barack Obama, Eddie Murphy and Will Smith to name just a few.0 -

I believe it was his own Twitter account that he was updating himself.0 -
I did get a refund from the theatre when me and my friend went to see Chicago because she was a massive Duncan James fan and he was moving house so didnt appear, I asked nicely and was refunded so its worth a try.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200
